This Rare Green Gold Rice is Disappearing from the Philippines (Duman)

The “Green Gold Rice” can be found in Pampanga, Philippines and it’s one of the local farmers’ most prized harvests of the year. The Magdumans specialize in making Duman—a unique heirloom glutinous green rice with golden hues that’s unlike any other rice. Nowadays, there are only two families left who are continuing the tradition of planting this rare rice variety due to low profits and climate change.

Join us as we take an exclusive look into the planting and harvesting process of Duman in our quest to understand what makes it one of the tastiest rice varieties in the country.
