In the quiet farming barangay of Biga-a in La Libertad, Negros Oriental, a powerful transformation is taking place. Plagued by poverty and food insecurity, this rural community found hope and healing through the power of organic farming and community collaboration.
Led by Kapitan Richard, a first-term barangay captain with a heart for service, and Nanay Zipelyn, a farmer who turned her garden into her family’s lifeline, this story showcases how grassroots change can redefine the future of food in the Philippines.
With the support of ARK Solves and corporate partner Booth & Partners, residents learned how to grow their own food, support one another through weekly vegetable exchanges, and build a self-sustaining ecosystem right in their own backyards.
