Easy Churros, Beignets, Funnel Cake Recipes

These are the easiest fried dough recipes that you will ever cook! Chef Martin is cooking churros, beignets, and funnel cake—all from scratch! On this episode of Essentials, we’re sharing some tips and tricks to make the process of deep frying delicious fried dough desserts a lot easier for all types of home cooks, so make sure to watch until the end.

CHURROS
Ingredients:
1 cup water
½ cup unsalted butter
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
¼ tsp salt
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 pc eggs
vegetable oil, for frying
1 cup sugar
1 tbsp cinnamon

Chocolate sauce:
2 cups heavy cream
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips.

Procedure:
1. In a saucepan, combine water, butter, sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Bring to a boil then bring heat to low.
2. Add the flour and mix vigorously until well-combined. Transfer into a bowl and cool down.
3. Add eggs one at a time until you get a shiny dough. Place the dough in a piping bag with a star tip attachment. Pipe into 5-inch strips on a pan with parchment paper.
4. In hot oil (350 F), fry each piece for 2 minutes or until golden brown and fully cooked.
5. Combine cinnamon and sugar then toss each churro in, coating them evenly.
6. Heat your cream then add to your chocolates. Mix until uniform in color. Serve with churros. Makes 5-6 servings.

BEIGNETS
Ingredients:
1-½ cups water
½ cup fresh milk
4 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp salt
2-¼ tsp instant dry yeast
¼ cup granulated sugar
5 pc egg yolks, beaten
1 tsp vanilla extract
vegetable oil, for frying
powdered sugar, for dusting

Procedure:
1. Dissolve your salt in water and milk. Set aside.
2. In a bowl, combine flour, yeast, and sugar. Add in milk mixture, egg yolks, and vanilla.
3. Knead for 15 minutes or using a stand mixer at speed 2 for 3-5 minutes until the dough is sticky but doesn’t stick to your skin. Place in a bowl and rest covered for 1 hour at room temperature or overnight in the fridge.
4. On a well-floured flat surface, roll out your dough gently and cut into 3 x 3 inch squares.
5. In hot oil (370 F), fry for 1 minute on each side or until browned and fully-cooked. Dust with some powdered sugar. Makes 5-6 servings.

FUNNEL CAKE
Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tbsp granulated sugar
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
1 1/2 cups milk
2 large eggs
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
vegetable oil, for frying
powdered sugar, for dusting

Procedure:
1. In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
2. Mix in milk, eggs, and vanilla extract gently until the batter is smooth. Place in a piping bag.
3. In hot oil (365 F), pipe out the batter into circles and cook for 1 minute on each side.
4. Serve dusted with powdered sugar. Makes 4-5 servings.
