Who can resist a plate of freshly steamed dumplings? We certainly can’t! We’re continuing our CNY celebrations by stuffing ourselves full of these classic pork jiaozi.
There are many variations of these bite-sized delights across different cultures like gyozas from Japan and pierogies from Poland. What’s your favorite kind of dumpling?
Jiaozi
Ingredients
1 lb ground pork, 80% lean
2 cup garlic chives finely chopped
3 tablespoon regular soy sauce
4 tablespoon water
3 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoon sesame oil
3 cloves garlic minced
1 thumb ginger, finely minced
1 tbsp white granulated sugar
3 tbsp cooking wine
store bought dumpling wrapper
Dumpling Wrapper (if not store bought)
500g flour
1-2 cups of water
3 tbsp oil
Additional flour for dusting
For Dipping Sauce
4 tbsp soy sauce
3 pcs. calamansi
chili oil
Procedure
1. Combine all ingredients for the filling.
2. Using store bought or homemade dumpling wrappers, wrap a teaspoon of the filling and shape as seen in the videos.
3. Steam the dumplings for 15-20 minutes and serve with seasoned soy sauce and chili oil.
