Making Ilocos Empanada for 64 Years (Glorys)

For 64 years, Gloria Aduana Cocson, better known in Batac as Manang Glory, has been making Ilocos empanada.

What began as a livelihood has become part of the town’s identity, with generations of locals and visitors returning to Glory’s Empanada for its familiar taste and consistency. But this story isn’t only about the empanada.

For Everyday Icons, we follow Manang Glory from her home to the stall she still insists on visiting, learning about the routines, techniques, and dedication that have defined more than six decades of her life.
