Humba Binalot

Who loves a binalot feast? This pork humba binalot is a complete meal that feels like a fiesta with each bite! Anything can be made into a binalot-style dish that’s also an eco-friendly way to wrap your food.

PS: You can also add side dishes to your meal like salted egg and tomatoes!

HUMBA BINALOT


Ingredients:
0.5 kg pork belly, sliced to 1-2 inch thick cubes
1 tbsp vegetable oil
1 sachet Maggi Magic Sarap
6 cloves garlic, minced
1 pc bay leaf
1 cinnamon stick
1 star anise
1/4 cup dried banana blossoms, soaked in hot water for 30 minutes
1 sachet Maggi Oyster Sauce
6 tbsp coconut vinegar
1 cup brown sugar
1.5 cups water
1 tbsp tausi
Procedure:
1. Brown your pork belly then season with magic sarap and pepper. Set aside.
2. Sauté garlic, bay leaf, peppercorn, star anise, cinnamon stick. Deglaze with coconut vinegar.
3. Pour in Maggi Oyster Sauce, palm sugar, water, tausi, and banana blossoms. Simmer while covered for 45 minutes.
4. Adjust the seasoning with Maggi Magic Sarap and simmer for another 20 minutes until pork is tender.
5. Assemble and wrap in smoked banana leaf with cooked rice, boiled egg, and tomatoes.
