What Happened to Malate Manila?

Is the Philippines TRULY a safe space for the LGBTQIA+ community? We walked the streets of Malate, one of the original hubs for the queer community in the country, but the historic alleyways are not the same. The once vibrant area has now been replaced with restaurants and the roads are filled with busybodies just getting through the day, not knowing that these streets once held the biggest parties of the city capital.

We talked to Louis Claparols, Shahani Gania, and Paul Jatayna  as we learn about the glory days in Malate and how the gay community is working towards rebuilding safe spaces in the city during a time when it matters the most.
