The Best Kakanin in Cavite Philippines

Rice cakes or “kakanin” are an important part of Filipino culture. In Cavite, there are three families who continue to preserve their heirloom recipes despite the increased pressure of modernization around them. The kakanin symbolizes the resourcefulness of our people and the rich heritage behind each bite.

We are exploring the streets of Cavite to try “Bibingkoy” from Aling Ika’s Carinderia, “Samala Rice Cake” from Pat & Sam, and the famous “Lihim ni Lola” from Town’s Delight in a mission to taste the best heirloom kakanin that this historical city has to offer.
